Setting your computer’s static IP addresses and connecting
You first need to ensure that your computer is connected to the AP Encoder via an ethernet cable. This can be a direct ethernet connection from the AP Encoder to your computer, but more likely, you will have the AP Encoder connected to a gigabit network switch and your computer connected to the same switch. Make sure the AP Encoder is powered on.
You then need to ensure that your computer is on the same static network range that the AP Encoder has been set up with.
macOS
Go to ‘System Settings’, then click ‘Network’, then click on your Ethernet connection.
Click the ‘Details’ button.
Change the ‘Configure IPv4’ dropdown option to ‘Manually’.
Type the IP address as 192.168.2.10.
Type the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.
Type the router as 192.168.2.1.
When repeating this process on other machines connected to your network switch, make sure that the 4th number in the IP address is different: 192.168.2.11 then 192.168.2.12 etc.
For each machine, use the same subnet mask and router address.
Click OK.
Windows
Go to ‘Settings’ and click ‘Network & internet’, then click on ‘Advanced network settings’.
Expand the menu for your ethernet connection, then click ‘Edit’ on ‘More adapter options’.
Double click ‘Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’.
Select ‘Use the following IP address’.
Type the IP address as 192.168.2.10.
Type the subnet mask as 255.255.255.0.
Type the default gateway as 192.168.2.1.
When repeating this process on other machines connected to your network switch, make sure that the 4th number in the IP address is different: 192.168.2.11 then 192.168.2.12 etc.
For each machine, use the same subnet mask and default gateway. Click OK.
Check you are connected
Connect to your AP Encoder through an internet browser by typing the address of the AP Encoder (192.168.2.168 by default) and pressing enter, then typing ‘admin’ in the username and password boxes that show. You will see the AP Encoder settings and details page show if you are connected. You can then use the RTSP feeds to capture them into your software.
As a reminder, the default RTSP feed addresses are as follows:
AP Multifeed
